Breathing a sigh of Relief!

As Winter begins I am able to say that I want to try to really enjoy the dark days.
The dread of darkness bringing with it depression and lack of motivation is going to be a thing of the past. I was so relieved when the U.S.A showed its heart by voting president Obama in for another term.I realise that there are terrible iniquities going on but at least he can be said to be moving in the right direction. The other candidates  were  terrible! As a woman who believes in the rights of women and equality some of the utterances were frightening.
So now I am going to settle in to a cosy winter hopefully full of bright firelight, scrumptious casseroles, mulled wine and warm woolly tights Ha Ha!
I shall look forward to the frost and snow and get out in it!
Coleridge the poet says in his poem The frost at Midnight that he had seen" the secret ministry of frost" a wonderful description of finding nature transformed over night.
Perhaps my husband will serenade me by candle light?
I shall drink in the morning light when there is a sunny morning and try hard not to be grumpy when there is a grey drizzle.I shall wear incredibly colourful socks inside my boots and maybe walk out under the winter moon and howl like a wolf!!
Then I intend to get tucked up in bed and read some great  books. These are my winter resolutions !

  1. I so agree about the election. There was so much riding on it for women. I knew God would lead our country down the right path.
I like your ideas for staying bright and cheery in the winter months. I actually love the dreary, gray days. I find them to be relaxing and comforting. A lot less pressure than sunny warm days : ) I enjoy cozy fires, the warm fragrance of candles and fuzzy blankets. Have a happy winter season!

  2. Like you I usually dread the winter months but this year I have started a couple of winter project to see me through, one is a novel during the National Novel Writing Month (which is for my eyes only, the novel that is) and a needlepoint cushion cover. Both of which I seem to be rubbish at, but will hopefully help to pass the time spent indoors. I will try to enjoy each winter day for what it is but it will be hard when my heart yearns for spring

  3. Yes, very pleased Obama was re-elected as President. Job done. I look forward to the winter much to everyone's amazement. We don't get a lot of snow here in Essex, maybe a couple of weeks each year. But I love it! There's nothing better than cosying up on a cold winters afternoon with a new project on the go or a good book to read. Also love getting out there and making the most of it.

  4. This sounds like a perfect way to view winter:) I've always rather like the short winter days and the long cozy nights. I echo your relief that Obama has been re-elected! I dread to think what the alternative might have brought.
