Dear Little Cups!

I love pretty china!

I found four of these bone china cups in a charity shop .I paid £3.00 for them.
They must be coffe cups or maybe for china tea  I like the delicate flowers which appear to be painted not printed and are so dainty. What an old fashioned word "dainty " is but it fits these pretty things perfectly!

  1. angela, my Mother collected china cups and saucers throughout my childhood. there are now carefully stored away in my cellar until i know what i will do with them. there are too many for my household and my daughter is not of an age to yet appreciate the passing on of treasures. one day i think i will line them all up, put a little surprise in each, and give them to special people.

dear little cups: that is a lovely term

  2. I have a small collection of china cups- at one time everyone had china tea sets which they would bring out on a Sunday. I always think tea tastes better out of a china cup but never use one, mugs seem to be the order of the day, but they are nowhere near as dainty, cups are definitely more Jane Austen! Those that you bought are beautiful.

  3. Yes tea has to be in a cup unless it is builders tea!! Strange you should mention Jane Austen,I have arranged a Jane Austen Night at the library which will happen next Tuesday.I will post some pics.

  5. Angela how lovely, I am such a sucker for pretty china too. When I come across abandoned pieces in second hand shops I have to stop myself buying them all up, which is why I have made myself stick to blue & white. But ohh i think i might have to start collecting floral pieces again!!
